What better way to start off a crisp cool morning than to scarf down a donut? A vegan donut, that’s what. Gluten-free too. And fluffy. Well, as fluffy as a gluten-free donut can be, which was surprisingly, pretty darn fluffy. Where can you find such a delectable thing? Bliss Cafe in downtown San Luis Obispo, California.
Sadly, it’s been awhile since I first visited. I’ve had no luck in convincing the rest of the family to dine there. Any mention of eating “healthy” food and I get multiple yucky faces in response. Needless to say, I don’t get to eat at Bliss as often as I would like. But after hearing they had vegan donuts, I was determined to stop by.
I loved the Maple Glaze, without a doubt, one of my favorite donuts of all time. The glaze is so good, full of maple flavor but not overly sweet. The Cacao Nibs chocolate donut is equally good. Next time, I’ll try the other two flavors, Cinnamon Sugar and Powdered Sugar. A bit pricey at three bucks each, but so worth it. No yucky face here.

The texture on those beauties looks fantastic! That’s usually the biggest downfall of any doughnuts I’ve had, so I’d love to get a taste of them for myself. I can practically taste the satisfying bite though that thick glaze now…

Those do look uncommonly good- I hope your family have now realised they need to get down to Bliss Cafe an awful lot more than they currently do! Maple for me please.

Those looks like the perfect way to start the day, one of my favourite vegan doughnuts is from Babycakes in NYC and they were both fluffy and GF too!
