Vegan Chocolate Muffin, from Pamplemousse Pâtisserie et Café in downtown Redwood City. As their one and only vegan pastry item, it might as well be a chocolate muffin.
Nice chocolate flavor but it didn’t seem quite like a muffin. It was more like eating a little chocolate cake. Not that I’m complaining or anything. But it certainly made me think what’s the difference between a muffin and a cupcake (other than the lack of frosting and a muffin top).
I shared the muffin with my sister’s kids who could care less about whether it’s actually a muffin or a cake. Instead, through chocolate-muffin-covered-teeth, my niece declared, “You can’t even tell it’s vegan!”

Hmm, what IS the difference between a cupcake and a muffin…i guess you are right…artistry.
Sounds delicious! I love that muffin wrapper too! “I can’t believe it’s not butter” resounds in my head. Hee hee
This looks delicious! I always thought that muffins were bigger and less sugary than a cupcake.
Certainly looks like a cake to me, but I certainly wouldn’t complain! Cute paper, too; It looks straight out of a fancy french bakery alright, so they’ve clearly succeeded in that field at least. :)
I especially like the wrapping! Muffins are quick breads which are mixed differently than cakes. Cake batter is beaten, and muffin batter is mixed gingerly just enough to blend the ingredients. Cakes generally have more fat and sugar, and are supposed to be dessert, whereas muffins are supposed to be closer to a slightly richer version of bread. Now it seems that muffins are getting fattier and sweeter, and like you said, hard to distinguish from cake!
A cupcake disguised as a muffin! Nice!
I’m drooling right now?Ooh those look good!
Looks good :)
How do I receive the recipe for the Vegan Chocolate muffin? I would like to try it. Thank you.
The muffin is from a bakery so there isn’t a recipe. But you can google vegan chocolate muffin recipe to see if there’s one you would like to try. :-)
