VeganMoFo: Veggie Fish Nuggets

After eating the Crumbed Sensation at the Loving Hut, I was hoping to find something similar in the frozen food section at the Asian supermarket. I picked up Vegetarian Mock Golden Fish Nuggets; sadly it’s not quite the same.
They have a different texture. It reminds me of veggie chicken nuggets but with a slightly different flavor and a crescent shape.
The texture is not as smooth as the Loving Hut ones. The breading is excellent though, after heating them up in the oven, they came out quite crispy. Ingredients include wheat and soy protein, wheat flour, seasonings, oil and breadcrumbs.
Overall, I thought they were just okay. But you never know until you try and there’s lots and lots of vegan/vegetarian things to try at the Asian supermarket. Go see.

I love the color of these fish nuggets. I have always wondered why no one made vegan fish nuggets since “chick” nuggets are everywhere. Apparently I just haven’t checked out an Asian supermarket- thanks for the idea!
I have a weakness for fried nuggets of anything. I’ll have to look for those.
I love going to the Asian supermarket for seaweeds, produce, and strange Buddhist vegan faux-meats (vege-chicken-ham log?)

My Asian market never has any cool faux meats….they DO have something called “tofu fish”, but it has real fish in it!
These fish nuggets look superb! I love the golden breading. I totally agree. You never know what vegan stuff you can find in the Asian market. Happy MoFoing!

i’m sorry the veggie nuggets were a bit disappointing, but you’re so right in that there are lots of other tasty vegan yummies to be tried at the asian grocers. i think i might have to make a trip super soon! thanks for the tasty reminder!
They look great. I miss fish sticks to this day. Do they taste anything like them?

Mo – They don’t really taste like fish sticks, more like chicken nuggets with a slightly different flavor.
