Recently, a large crate of fruit arrived at my doorstep, courtesy of The FruitGuys, a company that delivers mostly locally grown, organic and conventional fruit to offices and homes nationwide.
From across the room, I can smell the fresh fruit and it was still in its box. Opening it up, I’m hit with a kaleidoscope of brilliant colors. It’s like a farmer’s market in a box.
It doesn’t come in just any ol’ box, it looks like a custom-made box with very convenient handles on the sides (totally recyclable of course). And the fruit was well-protected for their trip in their own little compartments.
As for taste, each piece of fruit was sweet and full of flavor. From delicious strawberries to crisp apples to juicy citrus, it was all fresh and tasty. I don’t think there was a bad one in the bunch.
You’re probably thinking, why not just go to the farmer’s market for fruit? You could but sometimes there isn’t one nearby or it’s not open year-around or you’re just too busy to make it to the market.
In fact, I’m signing up my mom for the service. I think it would make a perfect Mother’s Day gift. Mom doesn’t like to drive all that much nowadays so it’s a challenge for her to get good fruit. A fruit delivery is nice and healthy and something besides the usual flowers or candy.

I just recently received my first box of organic fruit from The Fruit Guys. Although my box was not exactly as beautiful as the one pictured above, it was such a delight to open it up and see the variety. What I like best is that I do not have to make the lenghty drive from my rural cottage to the Whole Foods Market to find the organic fruit. The only problem I had was that one of the bananas was rotten and three were mushy. I called them immediately and they assured me a replacement shipment of the fruit of my choice to be delivered ASAP. This was fine with me as nothing can be perfect and the fact that they knocked off for shipping (some slight rough handling was obvious) and offered to replace the damaged goods went above and beyond what I expected. The variety is awesome considering the choices I get in my area….different oranges and apples, grapefruit, kiwi, bananas, pears and an avocado (which I wasn’t even expecting). I am looking forward to my next shipment.

We use a similar company in Vancouver called Fruitfull Offices http://www.fruitfulloffices.ca, they too deliver fresh fruit, we have received the odd piece of bruised fruit and once some mouldy grapes but they credited our account and we haven’t had any issues since. Its great to receive fresh fruit in the office and it makes our Mondays less miserable.

Awesome to hear you can get fresh fruit in the office as well. Love that the Fruitfull Offices also make deliveries by cargo trikes. :-)

I went to http://www.fruitfulloffices.ca but they don’t seem to deliver to my area. Are they a national company or just a loca one. We have been getting a produce box delivered to our office but we would like just fruit. Can anyone recommend a good company? we Would like organic fruit.
