Nothing But Pi Day

March 14, 2017 By chow 12 Comments

Leek and Mushroom Quiche Slice | Chow Vegan

March 14, National Pi Day, the day set aside to eat nothing but pie. Actually I just made that part up, you can eat whatever you want, whenever you want. But if you wanted to, you could eat pie all the live long day.

To get the day off to a tasty start, a nice slice of breakfast pie, Leek and Mushroom Quiche, pictured above.

Slice of Whole Foods Vegan Pizza | Chow Vegan

For lunch, a quick slice of vegan pizza pie from Whole Foods. Pretty much the only place around here to get a vegan slice. It’s convenient while shopping in store but it’s kinda hit-or-miss if there’s any vegan options on any given day or time.

Pizza Studio Vegan Pizza | Chow Vegan

Or I can stuff my face with a whole thin-crust pizza pie for about 10 bucks from one of the many build-your-own pizza places like Pizza Studio. I’ve yet to try Pieology or Blaze but both have vegan options as well.

Vegan Tempeh Pot Pie | Chow Vegan

Wimp out on cooking dinner and pick up a vegan pot pie from Pot Pie Paradise instead. Leaving plenty of time to make dessert…

Vegan Chocolate Banana Cheesecake | Chow Vegan

Chocolate Galaxy Banana Cheesecake with a raspberry topping from Vegan Pie in the Sky. It’s gonna be a great pie day. Who knew math could be so tasty and fun? Happy Pi Day!

This post contains an Amazon link, I get a few coins tossed my way if you click on the link and make a purchase of anything.

Delicious pies. The one from Pizza Studio looks very appetizing. Glad they didn’t skimp out on the toppings. Yum!!

That’s the best thing about those build-your-own pizza places, you can put as much or as little toppings as you want on your pizza. :-)

I’m glad I’m not hungry as I read your post or I would have to run to the kitchen and start cooking! The quiche looks especially great. And I love the generous veggie toppings on the pizzas! I’m getting less and less fond of commercial vegan pizza cheese (like Daiya) and the pizza places around here heap it on, even when I ask for a light sprinkle. Plus they are so stingy with the toppings! Ah, the cheesecake. It’s been too long since I made it. :D

Lately, I’ve been shying away from those kinds of vegan cheese too. I’m totally fine with cheeseless pizzas, provided they don’t skimp on the other toppings of course. :-)

I think it should really be pie day everyday. Since it can be eaten for any meal of the day, with any fillings, crusts, and toppings, why not? These all look like such delicious options!

I wouldn’t mind if every day is pie day. Think of all the pies! :-)

I didn’t get around to eating even one pie on Pi Day! I would happily eat all these pies in one day though.

If this isn’t a national holiday, it definitely should be – we can all take the day off work and fill our faces with pastry based treats. The world would be a better place, no doubt. For reasons I’m not entirely sure of, I’ve always struggled to make a decent vegan quiche (or buy one for that matter) so I’m heartened to know there are good versions out there in the world!

That would be awesome, I especially like the day off work part. :-) Yup, now I feel like having a slice of quiche.
