Patxi’s Pizza Vegan Thin Crust

Patxi's Vegan Thin Crust Pizza

Did you know October is National Pizza Month? And it’s World Vegetarian Month too. Celebrate by smooshing them together and you can have a month of vegan pizza eating.

Starting off with Patxi’s Pizza, last time I got the vegan deep dish in downtown Palo Alto. A newer location opened that’s much closer to me in downtown San Carlos, still it took awhile for me to finally get over there and try out their thin crust pizza.

Because October is also Spinach Lovers Month*, I got the 10-inch thin crust Spinacini – fresh spinach, whole roasted garlic cloves, roasted grape tomatoes and extra-virgin olive oil, swapped out the fresh mozzarella for Daiya vegan cheese. There’s no additional charge for vegan or gluten-free substitutions (yay for not being nickel-and-dime to death on that).

If you’re ordering the deep dish, order as soon as you sit down as it takes awhile to cook. The thin crust comes out much quicker. There’s salad and apps if you desired such things, I was there just for the pizza, after all, it is National Pizza Month. Good hot out of the oven, but I like it better the day after when the flavors have a chance to meld a bit more.

*Where do all these different national food months come from? Can anyone just make one up? Is there one for vegan food? For reals, Vegan Month of Food better known as VeganMoFo, coming up in November this year.

The option to get vegan deep dish pizza has always been such a draw at Patxi’s I never even considering ordered thin crust. It does look pretty great though… I need to go with a big group so we can get both!

I thought about getting the deep dish again but decided on the thin crust as I haven’t tried it there yet. Really can’t go wrong with either one.

I was always a thick crust fan, myself — never understood the draw of the thin crust. Now I can appreciate both, but thick and chewy is the best. We have a pizza place where I can get GF vegan pizza, and it looks a lot like the slice you posted. I like my pie swamped with veggies, but light on the cheese, and they sometimes get it just right. In honor of pizza month, I should order a pizza! Yours looks so good.

How funny, I’m just the opposite, I’ve always been a fan of thin crust. But I like getting thick crust once in awhile. Yup, light on the cheese, lots of veggies but not too much – there’s definitely an art to pizza making. :-)

Ohh this pizza looks amazing! I love going to a place called Mod Pizza where you can make your own pizza, and they even have vegan cheese!

Getting a good vegan pizza that’s not homemade is a lot harder than it should be round here, so I’m glad you’ve managed to find some cracking examples of the form where you are. I’m definitely team thin crust all the way!

I can imagine, lucky for me, the USA is the land of the pizza. Yup, thin crust all the way. :-)
