The Veggie Grill Mountain View

October 4, 2014 By chow 9 Comments

Veggie Grill Buffalo Wings

I finally got around to eating at the Veggie Grill in Mountain View that opened earlier this year. I’ve been down to the Southern California one in El Segundo a few years ago. I loved it then and I still love it now. In the interim, they’ve expanded their menu and they have a number of interesting new items.

Buffalo Wings, while good (I think they’re just Gardein Chickin’), weren’t quite as exciting as the below cauliflower bites.

Veggie Grill Crispy Cauliflower

Crispy Cauliflower – fried panko breaded cauliflower florets tossed in a sweet and spicy, orange sauce. I got the sauce on the side as well as extra buffalo sauce. If you’re going for something fried, this is the thing to get.

Veggie Grill Bombay Bowl

Bombay Bowl – roasted veggies, super grains, kale, cannellini beans, almonds and topped with a green curry coconut sauce. Not the most photogenic of bowls but flavorful and filling. I wish I had asked for the sauce on the side as I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting.

Veggie Grill "Crab" Cake Sandwich

The “Crab” Cake Sandwich was exceptional – crispy “crab” cake, spiced tartar sauce, pickles, tomato, lettuce and red onion on a wheat bun with Yukon Gold fries. I don’t know where they get the crab cakes from but they’re really good.

Veggie Grill Carrot Cake

And the Carrot Cake was fluffy with big strands of carrot and the cream cheese icing wasn’t overly sweet, just the way I like it.

It’s pretty quick too, I usually get my food in about 10-15 minutes or so after ordering. Super friendly people and very helpful with menu suggestions if you’ve never been or are unsure.

There’s only two other Veggie Grill locations in all of Northern California, one at Santana Row in San Jose which I haven’t been to yet and the other that just opened in Corte Madera. If only there was one closer to me, I would be eating there all the time.

I must say that all looks delicious, especially the crab cake burger. Not good for a gluten free gal though. I will again have to live vicariously through you! ;)

Sounds like a worthy road trip to me! I hope I can get out there this spring… I went to a Veggie Grill when I was in Portland for the last Vida Vegan and loved it. Likewise, I wish they would start opening up further afield, perhaps on the east coast, maybe? ;)

As someone who lives in MTV, I am 100% sorry you had to deal with the horrors of San Antonio Center to eat here! On the other hand, the food looks pretty good. You have to love crispy cauliflower.

We’ve been to the new Corte Madera restaurant a few times since it has opened and so far my favorite is the fish tacos, even better than the crab cake sandwich. They are currently my favorite over the BBQ “Steak” sandwich, Grillin’ Chickin’sandwich and B-wing salad. The Chargrilled Street Corn is super yummy and while I like the Crispy Cauliflower it’s not as flavorful as I would like it to be. We signed up for the GrillClub and we get lots of coupons which brings us in often. We live very close to the Corte Madera location and we’ve been waiting for it to open for over a year. Worth the wait. =)

india leigh – The Bombay Bowl is gluten-free and there was a few more items listed as being gluten-free that I didn’t try.

Hannah – It would be awesome if they popped up all over.

Eileen – I can’t get over all the development over there at San Antonio Center. :-0 But it’s worth putting up with it once in awhile to eat there.

LittleMonsterx14 – Yes, I’m so very spoiled here in California. :-)

Lydia Claire – Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll have to try the fish tacos next time. The GrillClub is awesome! I would be there all the time if they’re were closer to me.

Judi – Sorry I don’t have a recipe for the carrot cake. I have no idea if they make it in-house or if they get it from somewhere.

That looks like a lunch well ordered to me. What was the ‘crab’ made out of? I’ve had a particularly good heart-of-palm version before. I think that cauli may be whispering my name…

Thank you for your comments while I was away…I can’t wait to feature you on the blog tonight! I haven’t been to Veggie Grill for awhile, but your mouthwatering post is making me want to go very soon! I live about 2 hours away from Veggie Grill, so I know I will have to go, and yes, you’re right, if there was one closer to us, I would be eating there all the time and probably get sick of them soon! That’s a good idea to keep the sauce on the side, otherwise the contents of the bowl would go soggy, definitely will remember that if I order this, thanks! I had Crab Cake Burger and carrot cake before and they were pretty good!
