You probably heard by now that Starbucks is stocking Lucy’s cookies in their stores. They’re vegan, gluten-free and nut-free.
I had to see for myself, besides I had a couple of Starbucks gift cards burning a hole in my wallet. So I walked into the nearest store and there they were, in the back, neatly arranged on a table.
Chocolate Chip was the first of three flavors that I tried, I didn’t care for it. I prefer my cookies to be soft and chewy. This was hard and crunchy. I was kinda disappointed as I know there’s other vegan cookies that come in a package that are nice and soft.
The next flavor, Cinnamon Thin were better. I was fine with it being a crisp cookie as it reminds me of a cinnamon graham cracker. It was great dunked in a glass of soy milk.
And the last one, Sugar Cookie tasted like the cinnamon ones but without the cinnamon. It too got dunked in soy milk.
All of the cookies were on the sweet side and very crunchy and crisp. I didn’t expect that, having never heard of Lucy’s before trying them. But the crispness is perfect for dunking in milk or coffee. If I ever need a sugar rush while enjoying a Starbucks coffee, I would get the Cinnamon Thin again.
Size of a cookie is about 2 1/2″ in diameter, $1.50 a bag. One serving size is 3 cookies (there’s 4 in a bag) for 130 calories.
The chocolate chip cookie looked awfully skimpy on the chips.
I haven’t heard about this yet. I am glad whenever a large chain becomes more veg friendly! Even if it does not get a rave taste review :P
I didn’t like them. I found them too hard and I ended up with the roof of my mouth all torn up from eating them :( I love that Starbucks has added a vegan treat… I just wish it was something better.
I’m not a vegan, but my daughter has a peanut allergy so we tried the sugar cookies.
They tasted like fried chicken to me. Blech.
My daughter liked them though – but she’s 5.
Now I’m curious about whether my Starbucks has them too. I wish they had been more impressive!
I agree with your assessment- While I think it’s awesome to have vegan options at Starbucks, I’m not over the moon about these. They’re fine, good even, don’t get me wrong, but I do really prefer soft cookies as well.
It’s nice of Starbucks to make the effort but there are some really good vegan cookies out there to choose from.

I have seen them in my local Starbucks (in FL) up front- being promoted with the other snacky foods.
I noticed them because they were gluten/nut free but didn’t read the package to see if they were vegan (I wasn’t in need of a cookie- I usually go in at around 7am!) but was glad to see the nut/gluten free (and apparently vegan) options.
Super excited there is this option at Starbucks. While I don’t go there often, I do travel for work a few times a month so while stuck in airports on those few occasions I don’t bring food with me, I can rely on Starbucks for a quick vegan treat.
I’ll try them once… the reviews don’t look stellar… so if they aren’t any good, I’ll stick with the oatmeal which is yummy when I add a banana.

As someone who is GF I am beyond ecstatic that there are GF options at Starbucks in Canada. Personally I really appreciate them because while vegan cookies can be soft and chewy most GF products aren’t and if they are then end up tasting beyond vile, actually most commercial GF sweets/baked products are vile.
So while yes there needs to be a better range of vegan products in Sbucks and similar chains, this is one small victory for GF’s out there.
