Veggie McRiblet

November 5, 2011 By chow 14 Comments

Veggie McRiblet

Welcome to Chow Vegan! Now serving for an unlimited time, the Veggie McRiblet.

A MorningStar Farms hickory BBQ veggie riblet in a sweet and smoky sauce on a lightly toasted, freshly baked vegan hoagie roll from Zest Bakery. Topped with sautéed onions and bread n’ butter pickles that cover the entire riblet (not just the stingy two you normally get at other places).

Substitutions available, swap out the veggie riblet for another sort of patty. Of course, it wouldn’t be a vegan McRib anymore. But it’s really the flavor combination of the BBQ sauce with the onions and pickles on a bun that makes the sandwich so tasty.

Extra napkins upon request. Thank you and please come again.

I have to say, this is a much better advert than the dry cleaner ones for that other place. It all looks yummy :)

forgive me, I’m a wee English lassie and I’ve not the foggiest idea what ‘bread’n’butter’ pickles are? At first I thought she just means sandwich pickle then I thought no, perhaps it means ‘everyday’ pickles, then I thought do they pickle veggies with bread over there in the US of A? do tell.

That picture is so good Chow. It’s clean, well framed and I’m surprised you allowed yourself time enough to get the shot when you had that screamin at you EAT ME!

Great picture. Never liked the mc rib anyways but yours actually looks tasty. There is always an alternative to animal products if only more people would try them.

I’ll take one, or two, even! It’s the fresh bread that really puts this sandwich over the top. I wish I knew of a good local bakery for really high quality rolls…

I love this. ;) Looks so yummy!

And India-leigh: the best way I can describe bread & butter pickles is that they are a bit sweet and a bit tart, and not seasoned with dill, as many more traditional pickles are. They’re scrumptious. :)

I love Morningstar Farms Riblets. I had one of those last week. And I put extra pickles on mine too! Yummy! That bread looks delicious.

I’m so so so addicted to those riblets! I used to be able to get a sandwich like the one you made at a bar in Atlanta…oh man, so good.

We like the Riblet but…and you knew there was one…it’s got 620 mg of sodium, more than 25% of your daily recommended intake.

A once in a while treat, for us anyway, at best.

Bread and Butter Pickles are sweet and savory pickles, generally sliced into discs when prepared. They are excellent on their own, but compliment more full-flavored sandwiches. You can google for recipes- they’re easy to make since you can do them as refrigerator pickles… no canning involved!
