My grandparents had a pomegrantate tree in their yard so growing up my siblings and I had at it! We just sat outside on the porch and opened them up. For a less mess, you can fill up a big bowl of water and open up to release the seeds in that. Beautiful color, I only thought there was one type. I picked up pomegranate at the market this week and was so disappointed when I opened it because it was pink and it didn't seem to be ripe -- it was weak in flavor.
